I rode the Ride with Pete tour on Saturday. Great ride, had lots of fun. I did ride with some of my teammates. This was my first real group ride since getting back on the bike. At first, I didn’t think I was going to be able to hang on. Seems I had a tougher time than I expected in finding my legs from taking the day off on Thursday. But I found my legs and felt great. We did work on pacelines, which I really needed. We were about halfway thru the ride when we were passed by a large group. I wasn’t able to hang on, probably because I was basically caught snoozing. I should have grabbed the wheels but I didn’t. Lesson learned. Had my time trialing been better, I could have made it.
Mental note to self: work on time trialing.
I did take an east ride yesterday. Legs were a bit sore, but not as bad as I would have expected after a 50 mile hard ride, which I am not used to! I was kinda lucky to get out. I was dog sitting, and we had off and one light showers.
The remnants of Tropical Storm Erin are moving in, and it sounds like it will be really wet at least thru Wed. Meaning I will probably have to get the bike on the trainer. Guess I better start getting used to it. It’s only a couple of months and the basement will be a regular part of my training.
The skates have been sharpened. I need to do a quick repair on my pads. I just might hit the ice this week!
