I did get out out for a ride yesterday. Beautiful day (upper 70’s, light wind, sunny). I actually has a better ride than I expected. I will need to take full advantage of the weather we have coming up. Its sounds like the next week will be mostly dry (only a slight chance, 10%, of rain this weekend) with temps in the 80’s. Indian summer I would call it. I better enjoy it! It wont be long until I will be confined to the basement and rollers.
I am planning on taking a PTO day on Friday. With the nice weather, I should try to get in some quality time, on the ice and the road. Hit the early morning drop in, maybe a Stick and Puck at 11:30, then a short but quality ride. If nothing else, I need the ice time, since it will be last opportunity before the game Sunday.
Our opponents this week.. the Mayhem. The gay team I have a history with. Long story. But I hate the captain of the team. He’s a complete ass, thinks he hot stuff. A good hockey player but not as good as the thinks he is. He treated me like crap in the 2 weeks I played for them when they first got started. The were playing a league way over their heads (c2, they would not have been competitive in a Learn to Play class for Squirts).
I have lost to them only once, in the spring session. It was a hearbreaking loss with less than 1 minute in overtime (a 1-0 loss). It was one of those shots from the point. Thought I had the past covered really well (that is my strength) but their guy got lucky and found the way to thread that needle. It was probably one of the best games I have ever played. They are a really good team now, in all fairness to them. They have been very well coached, play their positions really well. And those guys who could barely skate two years ago can tear the ice up. I have no doubts they will be faster than us.
It could be a tough game. But I’m going in motivated for the win and to play a better game this week. I certainly got a confidence boost at Stick N Puck the other day. I dont feel I’m really as bad as the scoreboard has indicated.
This weekend will be our 6th anniversary. I’m really lucky..David is remarkably understanding of my interests and allows me to persue them. One thing I have failed to mention.. he actually encouraged me to take up hockey again. I love him so much!
