TechSmith just released an updated version of Jing, the very easy-to-use screen capture tool that can record both static image screenshots and desktop movies. It’s a great, cool app.
Like SnagIt, the new release of Jing can directly upload your screenshot images to the Flickr website. Videos created with Jing are Flash SWF movies that can also be embedded in web pages using Adobe Share.
If you have a web hosting space with FTP access, Jing can even upload your screenshots and video screencasts to any directory on your FTP server directly.
Jing is available for both Mac and Windows. It’s currently in beta and free for now but Jing could go commercial in future when it sheds the beta level.. So get it and enjoy it
Winter Doldrums are here.
Winter in Central Ohio. How many days do we the sun from Thanksgiving thru February? Very few
The weather really hasnt been as bad as it could be. It’s been see saw, temps up and down, but nothing really cold. Next week does sound like it will be a cold one, with some snow Which wouldnt be such a bad thing. Maybe if it felt like Christmas, I would catch the spirit. Right now, I have none.
I’m not getting on the bike enough. My hockey season is over, and I’m now left to find another team to play for.
Guess I can sum it up by saying I’m in a piss poor mood, and I’m getting fat again.
We are out of the playoffs.
The lowest scoring team, the one we really didnt fit into the equation, defeated the highest scoring team to take the 8th and final playoff spot.
At least we made a gallant effort in the final game
It was a big win for us last night, as we defeated the 4th place Mayhem by a score of 7-3.
I’ve had a good record against the Mayhem, and I wanted that streak to continue. Also, a win was necessary for us to have a playoff shot as the 8th seed
One thing about Motion. If we bring our game, we can play against any team in our league. Bringing our game hasn’t been done that often, in fact, last night was only the tird time. If we don’t bring our game, we get our tails kicked, and made to look really bad.
The game started out looking like it was one game where we left our game at the door. Most of the first period, the game was played in my defensive zone. I was taking a barrage of shots. One thing that was different this time- my D was clearing the rebounds (In fact, my D never played better for the entire game, except for an occasional screen. I did let in one near the end of the first (screened). At the end of the first we were up 3-1.
The game shifted and I really didn’t see that much action in the 2nd. In fact, the game in general was one of those I dread where I was seeing a lot of action, then none. Doesn’t do much to keep you in the game. I did make some key saves, let in two (one was screened, the other I should have had). At the end of the second, we were tied 3-3.
The third period was an exciting period. While Mayhem was in the playoffs, they were playing as if a win was needed to make it. As for Motion, we ALL played a great game. It was probably the best period I have ever had. Action on both sides, but we took the win 7-3.
It was probably my best game this session. I was very pleased to get this win. I do feel the score could have easily gone the other direction had it not been for my game.
I did go into the game a bit districted. The team’s old goalie, who will be my replacement next session, was in the adjoining locker room getting ready for his game, and kept popping into the locker room. The captain told me “he had quit or was asked to leave the Fireballs”. Obviously not the case. And he had a rather lengthy chat with the captain before the game.
Maybe I am making something out of nothing, but it did provide a distraction. And I’m thinking that I was pretty much lied to. The worst part- our captain did not say one word to me, not even “good game”. And if it wasn’t for me bringing my game, they would have lost. If that is the attitude he carries, I really don’t want to play for him.
Now it’s wait and see if we make the playoffs. We needed one team to lose, and based on the way they have played, and the team they were playing, it should have happened. We would be the last seed, and would play the number one seed, Worthington Industries. The only other team we have beaten, handing them their first and I will presume, only loss in the regular season.
Yeah, I’ve said it before. But I came back.
Different situation this time around. While I did volunteer to leave the team, for the good of the team, the captain did chose to go with someone else. I dont have hard feelings since I had given thought to sitting out the next two sessions, because of the late games. But this time, it’s not totally my decision.
I’ve got some time to decide if I want to pursue another team next session, since it will not start until January. I can always do drop ins and stick n pucks, with or without a team
In the meantime, we play the Mayhem tonight. With a win, we have a shot at the playoffs. I have a history of playing well against them. And I feel I owe the team a standup game, and that is what its going to take to get the win. And if we make it, we will play the number 1 team, Worthington Industries. We gave them their only loss. Could be a very interesting game!
Just when I had made my mind to play again on Sunday, I received a reply to my email to the captain.
Seems they played as a different team the last few sessions. The team broke up, the younger guys started one team and didnt want the older guys, which SUCKS! The guys I played with decided to start their old team but didn’t know their goalie at the time had agreed to play with the other team. And it was a last minute to get Motion started.
That’s when they scrambled to look for a goalie, and that’s where I came along. After it was agreed that I would play, the old goalie let the captain know that he wanted to play after either quitting or being asked to leave the other team
He was told the spot was filled, but Mark also said he told him that he could join them in the winter session, which is upcoming.
So, the old goalie is coming back, which leaves me looking for a team.
Maybe I gave them an easy out. I had not been given any indication that all of this was going on. I basically gave the captain the choice if he did or did not want me back, while I expressed a strong interest in returning. But I wonder when he intended to tell me this.
But.. I still have no hard feelings. And I understand the situation. Maybe hitting 50 make me appreciate how some whipper snappers would rather cast us old folks off to the side.
I’ll look for anther team, in the meantime, I was told that I would be put in the roster as a sub.
