Winter isn’t here, and I’m already feeling fat and out of shape!
I’ve been trying to get on the bike and at least ride the rollers or trainer. It’s kind of tough right now. I know that if I can get into the habit, and gradually increase the time (and get some structure) I will adjust. I did got out over the weekend and bought some winter riding clothes, and actually got out on the road Sunday (in 30 degree weather) and had a great ride, and really enjoyed it.
My Crohn’s had been flaring up a bit recently. Another reason to get back to a healthier lifestyle. I worked hard to get where I was at, I cant start reverting back to my old ways.
I’ve been doing some thinking and have decided to at least see if there is interest in forming a racing team dedicated to us old folks, the masters. Seems like really isn’t a lot of catering to masters around here. The Masters races seem to be fewer than they were in Texas. What I would really like to see is races, or a race series, dedicated to masters. I would also like to bring a time trial series to the area. We don’t have that, and I think we need that. I’ll see how it goes, since I’m somewhat under the impression that there is some politics and vying, and infighting going on in the cycling community here.
Well, as I said last week, on paper, last Sunday’s game should have been a win for us. But…it wasn’t. We really didn’t play as well as we did the week before. There were some defensive lapses, and I was off as well. It was a 4-3 loss. I gave up three goals on weird bounces and deflections. Can’t say that I’ve ever had three of those in one game. but it was the difference. It was hard for me to get focused on the game. I talked with my sister kust before I left for the game, and heard some bad news concerning my mother’s health. I really need to go home for Xmas this year. This could be the last Xmas for my mother.
We are getting into some late games in these last three weeks of the season. Needless to say, I am giving consideration to not playing for at least the next two sessions. Considering I have to be at work at 6AM, those late games are killers.
