I love the holidays, but I am always relieved when they are all over with. As far as I am concerned, things are back to normal. I go into work tomorrow, and have no plans for New Years with the possible exception of taking in a Blue Jackets game tomorrow night (against Edmonton).
We went to Dayton Monday night, and got back at 1AM. Then up at 8AM to go to West Virgina. Back home at 11PM. I was looking forward to going to work on Wednesday!
On the up side, I’ve had a good week. No major Crohn’s flareup, and I’ve been eating very well. In fact, I think I have actually lost weight. My worst day this past week was on Monday when I was trying to shop for David. I was getting all stressed out, and came home feeling sick. And still didnt find what I wanted.
I’ve been trying to get in as much ice time as possible. I’ve made a good number of drop ins, and feel good about the way I have played. The bad thing about this time of the year is that the drop in usually get a large number of hot shot high school kids. Some of their attitudes, to be honest, makes me concerned for my safety, and feel its not worth getting injured. There is also the issue on number of goalies. Most drop ins have 4 goalies, which isnt that good, except that it’s ice time. 10 minutes on the ice, followed by 10 minutes off the ice, really makes it hard to get in the groove.
But, there is never a shortage of quality shooters. And that will really help me as I move up from D South to D West! And as I said earlier, I feel very good about the way I have played.
After the past week, I will say any day without pain is a good day!
It was a morgue at work today. Which is only a prelude to next week. In fact, it’s so quiet, and I have so much filing to catch up on, I’m only taking one full day off next week, Christmas Day. It should end up being a productive week.
I’ve got to start my Christmas shopping tomorrow. Fortunately I don’t have that much to do, The biggest decision is what to get David.
With the holidays comes plenty of opportunities to play hockey, and I plan to take advantage of every opportunity I have over the coming weeks.
Finally, after a week of misery, I feel like my old self as I can put my Crohn’s attack behind me.
A day of liquid diet got me back in order.
My relief started after taking a double shot of DanActive. I will definitely being doing these shots everyday!
I came home and had the motivation and energy to get on the rollers and ride for 30 minutes.
Broad and High, our mini Times Square
I love the holidays.
This year I’ve thrown my diet out the window, foolishly.
My Crohn’s has been under control, for the most part, up until last week. I really should have known better than eating the way I have been, but I had total disregard. Now, I’m in total complete miserly. I have never felt this lousy before.
Geez. My conditioning has really dropped after two weeks of doing nothing. Its not that I havent tried, or thought about it, but its the usual holiday madness.
I went to a Stick n Puck today, which is the first time in two weeks that I’ve done anything physical. I played well, but, it was a brutal wakeup for me. My conditioning really dropped.
We are about three weeks from the start of the next session. Meaning riding those rollers, hitting all the drop in and stick n pucks I can.
