Apparently the sheriff of Larimer County. Co, Jim Alderden, doesn’t like spandex.
Larimer County law enforcement will begin ticketing riders riding two abreast and jailing those without identification. Citing multiple driver complaints and the safety of cyclists, the Sheriff’s office has decided to interpret cyclist law in Colorado in an extremely stringent manner.
Alderden, the sheriff in Larimer County, was previously was in the news because he criticized arguments last winter in Fort Collins over the use of Christmas ornaments. City officials there had listened to a committee recommendation to use only white lights and neutral and non-religious decorations such as snowflakes, snowmen, snowballs, ice skates, skis, penguins and polar bears during the Christmas season. Apparently he feels he is currently serving his third term “by God’s will”.
Now he has turned his sights to cyclists, or desperoadies.

I know there are cyclists with attitudes who either feel the laws don’t apply to them or have the attitude of to hell with the laws. I shake my head in disgust, when I’m on the bike or when I behind the wheel. Unfortuntely, it only takes a few to give us all a bad name and reputation.
But I also know there are a lot of cyclists (a majority)who heed the laws.
But before motorists start going off on cyclists..what about you folks driving you gas guzzlers with your frigging cell phone glued to your ear. GOTFP!!! All my close calls when rinding (and driving for that matter) have all occured with a cell phone glued to their ear!
