It was really no suprise. I had way too much in my legs! No, I didn’t push it. Once again, lesson learned!
I got off work and there were storms popping all over the area, so I had to wait until later to ride. The storms moved out, it cleared out, cooled off, and was really nice. I stuck to the city loops and got in a good, productive 1 hour ride. I did a few l laps on Sunday’s Tour of Grandview course to get a feel for it and maybe help me decide if I want to race it. The jury is still out.
I got home, took a shower, then started getting a sore throat. I felt lousy at bedtime, which wasnt helped by the fact that it took Puka forever and an hour to settle down. I finally asked her if she wanted to go to the cage. It’s been a long time since she’s been there, but I think she understood the word.
I do feel some better this morning, although not 100%, I had a good breakfast and an extra dose of FSR, so hopefully the antioxidants and Vit C will work their magic. I’ve been lucky this year, I havent had anything that’s laid me up for more than a few hours.
This weekend the peace of the ‘hood is shatttered with Comfest. Sounds like it will be typical Comfest weather. Hot and muggy. As much as I hate the noise and traffic that moves into our normally quite neighborhood, I will go down to particpate in the overpriced liquid refreshments, eat too much greasy food, and maybe will hear some good music. It won’t be Friday since I am racing Saturday. And that’s one reason I don’t want to race Sunday. If I do, it would have to wait until Sunday afternoon after the race (But then again, maybe it’s more of a reason to race)
I’m looking forward to the race Saturday, although it has been a long time since I’ve raced a crit. While I have been on some group rides and feel confident of my bike handling, maybe I should have been doing more mass starts.
If I feel up to it, I’ll hit the Tues night training crit to see how I fare and to get a feel for a crit start.
